On October 31, 2025, an explosion occurred at the HF Sinclair-Navajo Refinery in Artesia, New Mexico (USA), accompanied by heavy smoke. Three employees were injured and taken to the hospital. Fortunately, no fatalities were reported.

The cause of the explosion has not yet been officially identified. HF Sinclair has launched an internal investigation to determine the source of the incident and to prevent similar events in the future.
The HF Sinclair refinery processes crude oil and supplies fuel to the southwestern United States. With a capacity of about 100,000 barrels per day, it is the largest oil refinery in the state.
Immediately after the explosion, police closed nearby roads and advised residents to remain indoors. The fire department quickly extinguished the fire, and specialists from the Department of Environment conducted air quality measurements. No hazardous levels were detected, though monitoring continues.
